Product Introduction

4217 is a two-component, amine‑addition‑cured epoxy coating that exhibits excellent chemical resistance and can withstand long-term immersion in most types of oils.

 

Application areas
It is widely used as an interior coating for chemical tanks and can also be applied to sewage tanks, brine tanks, and mud‑pit compartments.

Mixing ratio: 4:1 (by volume)

Recommended dry film thickness: 125 μm (corresponding to a wet film thickness of 190 μm)

Specific gravity: 1.45 kg/L (specific gravity may vary slightly with color)

VOC content: 326 g/L

 

Construction conditions

Remove surface oil, grease, and other contaminants from the substrate using an appropriate cleaning agent, then rinse with high-pressure fresh water to eliminate surface salts and other impurities.

New steel: sandblasted to Sa2.5 grade, with a surface roughness of Medium (G) (ISO 8503-2).

Welding, flame cutting, or thermal straightening of burned areas: Remove weld slag and spatter, grind the surface smooth, then use an elastic abrasive wheel to achieve a St3 surface finish.

During paint application, the substrate temperature must be at least 3°C above the dew point, and the ambient relative humidity must be below 85%.

Use this product only under conditions where application and curing can proceed normally at temperatures above 0°C; the application surface must be clean and dry.

Note: If the maximum recoat interval is exceeded, the surface must be thoroughly sanded and roughened prior to painting to ensure adequate adhesion between coats.

 

Paint Film Thickness/Dilution

Non‑recommended dry film thicknesses may be used depending on the application and substrate; this will affect the coverage rate as well as drying time and recoat intervals. The typical dry film thickness per coat is 100–200 microns.
