Product Description

Product Introduction

Chlorinated rubber is a chlorinated polymer obtained by reacting natural rubber with chlorine. Industrial-grade products are white or pale yellow powders, non‑toxic and odorless, with a chlorine content of 63–65% and an average molecular weight of 5,000–10,000. It is readily soluble in aromatic hydrocarbons, halogenated hydrocarbons, ethers, esters, petroleum solvents, and ketones (except acetone), and is miscible with various synthetic resins such as alkyd resins, epoxy resins, phenolic resins, and polyurethanes; however, it is insoluble in aliphatic hydrocarbons, alcohols, and water. Due to the cyclic structure of its C–C backbone and its high chlorine content, chlorinated rubber exhibits numerous excellent performance characteristics.

1. The molecular chain is saturated and contains no double bonds or other reactive functional groups, resulting in excellent chemical stability and outstanding corrosion resistance; it can withstand exposure to a wide range of corrosive chemicals, including acids, bases, salts, chlorine gas, H₂S, SO₂, and others.

2. The Cl group imparts mold‑resistant and flame‑retardant properties, thereby endowing the product with these characteristics.

3. The C–Cl bond is highly polar, resulting in excellent adhesion to the surfaces of various materials, including steel, aluminum alloys, cement, and wood.

4. It features a C–C backbone and is a rubber-modified product, thus exhibiting excellent compatibility with natural rubber, chloroprene rubber, nitrile rubber, and other rubbers.

5. It possesses a cyclic structure, thereby enhancing the product’s adhesion, flame retardancy, oil resistance, and elastic modulus.

6. It undergoes slight decomposition above 125°C and does not soften or burn above 200°C, exhibiting excellent heat resistance.
