Product Description
Product Introduction
Chlorosulfonated polyethylene is produced by chlorinating and chlorosulfonating polyethylene, yielding a highly saturated, chlorine‑containing elastomeric material. Its average molecular weight ranges from 30,000 to 120,000; specifically, CSM2910 has a molecular weight of 30,000, CSM4010 of 40,000, CSM3304 of 120,000, and CSM2305 of 100,000. It appears as white or off‑white flaky or granular solids, with a relative density of 1.07–1.28. Its Mooney viscosity lies between 30 and 90, and its brittle temperature ranges from −56°C to −40°C. It is soluble in aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons but insoluble in fats and alcohols; in ketones and ethers, it swells rather than dissolves. Owing to its fully saturated molecular structure, it exhibits excellent resistance to chemical corrosion, ozone aging, oil degradation, and flame retardancy. Additionally, it demonstrates superior weatherability, heat resistance, ionizing radiation resistance, low‑temperature performance, abrasion resistance, electrical insulation, and outstanding mechanical properties, making it a high‑performance specialty rubber.
Scope of Application
As a specialty rubber, CSM has found widespread application in areas such as specialized tubing, conveyor belts, seals, wires and cables, waterproofing membranes, and the automotive industry. Moreover, anticorrosive coatings formulated with CSM as a base material are also highly versatile. For instance, laminated tubes with a CSM inner layer exhibit low permeability to fluorocarbon refrigerants, making them well suited for refrigerant‑transport lines. Blending CSM with fluoroelastomers can enhance the processability of the resulting compound, while blending it with ethylene–propylene rubber improves the physical‑mechanical properties and thermophysical characteristics of the vulcanizate. Incorporating CSM together with isoprene rubber into EVA polymers yields composite materials that offer excellent slip resistance, wear resistance, and oil resistance. Additionally, when CSM is compounded with PVC or PU and subsequently vulcanized in an extruder, it produces vulcanizates with outstanding oil and ozone resistance.
